Dr Demetris Efstathiou began studying music from the age of 8 at the School of Fine Arts ‘Solon Michaelides’, where he was undertaking guitar lessons. He studied Guitar Performance and was awarded with distinction for his exceptionally high results and academic excellenceat the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchesterunder the guidance of his professors Craig Odwen and Gary Ryan. During his studies, he took part in a variety of Music festivals, Masterclasses and lessons with distinguished guitarists such as David Russel, Julian Bream, Pepe Romero, Leo Brouwer, Roland Dyens, Eliot Fisk, Dimitri Dekavallas, Volker Hoeh. He is a holder of BMus, MMus and PhD degrees. He takes part in many concerts in several European countries. Additionally his compositions, which have excelled in world competitions, have been performed in England, France, Ukraine and Russia. He is the director of the conservatory ‘Casa de la Musica’, where he teaches guitar. He is also a Music teacher at the InternationalSchool of Paphos and one of the founders of the Paphos Youth Guitar Orchestra. He is a member of the Paphos Aphrodite Quarter. His students received a number of awards and won several competitions.
