Stevan Karanac, tenor, principal soloist of Opera of Serbian National theatre in Novi Sad. Since 2020. he is Artistic director of Angel Voice Festival.
Stevan is an assistant at Academy of Arts of the Slobomir P University and a doctorant of Performing arts at the Faculty of music, University of arts, Belgrade, Serbia, under professor Nikola Mijailović. He finished educational course at Opera studio "Borislav Popović" in National Theatre in Belgrade, where he performed numerous principal roles. In 2021 he enrolls in the MA studies of Theatre directing on the Academy of Arts in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina with professor Vladan Đurković. On the King’s College in London Stevan is presented as a composer with his first opera “Amor mundi” that he wrote on the libretto of an visual artist and librettist Szuszanna Ardo.
Stevan was awarded student and awarded performer at numerous competition, including prizes for the best performance of German lied, many laureates and first / Grand Prix prizes.
Stevan’s concert career in Serbia and abroad is marked with cooperation with many notable conductors and ensembles. Apart from chamber repertoire for the voice and piano, he performs song cycles, cantatas, masses and oratorios of Mozart, Rolle, Beethoven, Scriabin, Orff, Bach, Buxtehude, Handel, Schumann and others.
Stevan in mainly focused on opera repertoire, where he performed more than 30 roles, with majority of them being principal tenor roles. His performances in Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Italy, Germany, Austria, Russia, Jordan etc include main roles in operas: Faust, Carmen, Il trovatore, La traviata, Rigoletto, Aida, La bohème, Gianni Schicchi, Lucia di Lammermoor, Don Pasquale, L’occasione fa il ladro, Die Zauberflöte, Così fan tutte, Don Giovanni, La clemenza di Tito (short), Bastien und Bastienne, Lo speziale, Vladimir i Kosara, Eugene Onegin and others.
