Violin

Kumie Shimada graduated from the Music Department of Toho High School and the Faculty of Music at Toho Gakuen College of Music. She furthered her studies at the Berlin University of the Arts, where she refined her artistry and broadened her international experience.

She studied violin under Akiko Tatsumi and Saschko Gawriloff.  

While still a student, she won First Prize at the 29th National Student Music Competition (High School Division), Tokyo Regional Competition.

As a performer, she has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician with ensembles including the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Chamber Orchestra, and the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra.  

She was also an instructor at the Toho Gakuen University–affiliated Music School for Children at both the Sengawa and Hiroshima branches.

In addition to her active performance career, she is deeply committed to teaching the next generation of musicians.
